Interactive salah practice
Review each position and recitation before opening the interactive prayer simulation.
Stand calmly, face the Qiblah, and make the intention in your heart for this prayer. Do not say a fixed intention formula out loud.
Recitation
النِّيَّةُ فِي الْقَلْبِ
An-niyyah fil-qalb
Meaning: The intention is made in the heart.
Tip: This guide teaches a simple 2 rak'ah prayer. Some details vary by school, so follow a trusted teacher for your community's exact practice.
Stand facing the Qiblah. Raise your hands to ear level (or shoulders) and say "Allahu Akbar" to begin the prayer.
Recitation
اللهُ أَكْبَر
Allahu Akbar
Meaning: Allah is the Greatest
Tip: After this takbir, place your right hand over your left on your chest. Keep your eyes looking at the place of prostration.
After the opening takbir, fold your hands and you may recite an opening supplication. This is recommended, not the core minimum.
Recitation
Meaning: Glory and praise are Yours, O Allah. Blessed is Your name, exalted is Your majesty, and there is no god besides You.
Tip: Hand placement differs in valid teachings. The important point here is to stand still and begin with focus.
Before reciting Al-Fatiha in the first rak'ah, seek refuge in Allah from Satan. Basmala practice before Al-Fatiha varies, and it is included in the Al-Fatiha text shown next.
Recitation
أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيم
A'udhu billahi minash-shaytanir-rajeem
Meaning: I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the rejected.
Recite Surah Al-Fatiha. This is mandatory in every rak'ah. Take your time and recite with presence of heart.
Recitation

You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us on the Straight Path. The path of those who have received Your grace, not of those who have brought down wrath upon themselves, nor of those who have gone astray.
Tip: Say "Ameen" (O Allah, accept) after completing Al-Fatiha.
After Al-Fatiha, recite another surah or some verses. This example uses Surah Al-Ikhlas.
Recitation
