What is Akhlaq?
Akhlaq (أخلاق) is the Arabic word for character, morals, and ethics. In Islam, having good akhlaq is not optional - it's a fundamental part of faith.
The Prophet's Mission
When asked about his mission, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
"I was sent to perfect good character."
This profound statement shows that Islam isn't just about rituals - it's about becoming a better person in every aspect of life.

Character and Faith are Connected
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"The most complete believers in faith are those with the best character."
Your prayers, fasting, and other acts of worship are important, but they should lead to better character. If your worship doesn't improve how you treat others, something is missing.
The Weight of Good Character
On the Day of Judgment, nothing will be heavier on the believer's scale than good character. The Prophet ﷺ said:
"The heaviest thing placed on the scale of the believer on the Day of Resurrection is good character."
Islam is How You Treat People
A man asked the Prophet ﷺ, "What is Islam?" He replied: "Good character." The man asked, "What is wrong?" He replied: "What troubles your heart and you hate for people to know about."
