Now let's learn the actual steps of wudu. Each step should be done carefully and with the intention (niyyah) of purifying yourself for worship. Remember, wudu is an act of worship itself!

The Obligatory (Fard) Parts of Wudu

There are four obligatory actions in wudu that must be completed for it to be valid:

Complete Wudu Process (Including Sunnah)

1. Make Intention (Niyyah) Say in your heart: "I intend to perform wudu for the sake of Allah."

2. Say Bismillah Say "Bismillah" (In the name of Allah) before starting.

3. Wash Hands (3 times) Wash both hands up to the wrists, including between fingers.

4. Rinse Mouth (3 times) Take water in your right hand, rinse your mouth thoroughly.

5. Clean Nose (3 times) Sniff water into your nose and blow it out.

6. Wash Face (3 times) ✓ OBLIGATORY From hairline to chin, ear to ear.

7. Wash Right Arm (3 times) ✓ OBLIGATORY From fingertips to elbow, including elbow.

8. Wash Left Arm (3 times) ✓ OBLIGATORY Same as right arm.

9. Wipe Head (once) ✓ OBLIGATORY Wet hands wipe from forehead to back of head and return.

10. Wipe Ears (once) Use index fingers inside ears, thumbs behind.

11. Wash Right Foot (3 times) ✓ OBLIGATORY From toes to ankles, including between toes.

12. Wash Left Foot (3 times) ✓ OBLIGATORY Same as right foot.

Important: Always start with the right side before the left. The Prophet ﷺ loved to start with the right in all his affairs. Also, don't waste water - use only what you need.

Dua After Completing Wudu

After finishing wudu, it is recommended to say:

أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ

"I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger."

The Prophet ﷺ said whoever says this after wudu, all eight gates of Paradise will be opened for them to enter from whichever they wish.
